A quick and easy air fryer chicken recipe with crispy skin and juicy meat, infused with a garlic-herb paste. Perfect for busy weeknights or last-minute gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 1.5 lbs / 680g)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • Zest of ½ lemon

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine minced garlic, parsley, rosemary, thyme, olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika (if using), and lemon zest to form a paste.
  3. Gently loosen the skin of each chicken thigh and stuff about 1 teaspoon of the garlic-herb paste under the skin. Rub the remaining paste all over the outside of the chicken.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Place the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket in a single layer, skin-side down, without overcrowding.
  6. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 12 minutes.
  7. Flip the chicken thighs skin-side up and air fry for another 10-12 minutes, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the skin is golden and crispy.
  8. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For extra crispy skin, pat the chicken dry thoroughly and avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket. Use a meat thermometer to ensure perfect doneness. Let the chicken rest before serving to retain juices.
