A quick and easy dessert dip made with Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes, cream cheese, and powdered sugar. Perfect for holiday parties, this five-ingredient dip comes together in minutes and is always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 6 Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes
  • Extra Christmas Tree Cakes, crumbled or sliced for garnish (optional)
  • Rainbow sprinkles or holiday jimmies for garnish
  • Assorted dippers: graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzel sticks, apple slices, or extra Christmas Tree Cake pieces

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese. Take your 8 ounces of cream cheese out of the fridge about 30 minutes before you start. It should be soft enough that your finger leaves an indent when you press it. If you forgot to plan ahead, unwrap it and microwave on half power for 10-15 seconds. Don’t overdo it — melted cream cheese won’t give you the right texture.
  2. Beat the cream cheese. Put the softened cream cheese in your mixing bowl. Beat it with a hand mixer on medium speed for about 2 minutes, until it’s completely smooth and fluffy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with your spatula halfway through. This step is important — you want zero lumps before you add anything else.
  3. Add the sugar and vanilla. Add the 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the bowl. Beat on low speed at first so the sugar doesn’t fly everywhere, then increase to medium and beat for another minute until everything is well combined and creamy. The mixture should look thick and glossy at this point.
  4. Thin it out slightly. Add the 2 tablespoons of milk and beat on low until incorporated. This loosens the dip just enough to make it scoopable without being runny. If you want a thicker dip (great for sturdier dippers like pretzels), use only 1 tablespoon of milk. For a thinner dip (better for cookies or fruit), add up to 3 tablespoons.
  5. Prepare the Christmas Tree Cakes. Unwrap 6 Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes. Stack them on your cutting board and use a sharp knife to cut them into small pieces — about 1/2-inch chunks. Don’t stress about perfection here. Some pieces will be bigger, some smaller, and that variety is actually great for texture. Try to keep the green icing and sprinkles attached as much as possible — that’s where the color and crunch come from.
  6. Fold in the cake pieces. Add the chopped cake pieces to the cream cheese mixture. Use your rubber spatula to gently fold everything together. Fold from the bottom up, turning the bowl as you go, until the cake pieces are evenly distributed throughout the dip. You’ll see streaks of green icing and little pops of color from the sprinkles — that’s exactly what you want.
  7. Transfer to serving bowl. Scoop the dip into your serving bowl and spread it into an even layer. If you want to get fancy, use the back of a spoon to create little swirls on top.
  8. Garnish and serve. Crumble one or two extra Christmas Tree Cakes over the top for visual appeal. Sprinkle with extra rainbow jimmies or holiday sprinkles. Serve immediately with your choice of dippers.

Notes

Let cream cheese sit at room temperature for 30 minutes before starting. For a thicker dip, use only 1 tablespoon of milk; for a thinner dip, use up to 3 tablespoons. The dip can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Let it sit at room temperature for 15-20 minutes before serving. Do not freeze.
