This creamy, sweet, sprinkle-studded dip tastes just like raw cookie dough but is totally safe to eat. It comes together in about ten minutes using simple pantry ingredients and is perfect for holiday parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, heat-treated
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup festive holiday sprinkles
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2–3 tablespoons milk, if needed

Instructions

  1. Heat-treat your flour first. Spread 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until the flour reaches 160°F on an instant-read thermometer. This usually takes about 1-2 minutes total. Let it cool completely while you prepare the other ingredients.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and cream cheese together on medium speed until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with your rubber spatula halfway through.
  3. Add the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract to the bowl. Beat on medium speed for another 2 minutes until the mixture is creamy and the sugar has started to dissolve.
  4. Add the powdered sugar gradually, about 1/4 cup at a time, beating on low speed after each addition. Once all the powdered sugar is added, beat on medium speed for 1 minute until the mixture is thick and smooth.
  5. Add the cooled, heat-treated flour and the pinch of salt to the bowl. Beat on low speed just until combined, about 30 seconds.
  6. If the dip seems too thick to scoop easily, add milk one tablespoon at a time, beating on low speed after each addition, until you reach your desired consistency. I usually add about 2 tablespoons.
  7. Using your rubber spatula, gently fold in the mini chocolate chips and holiday sprinkles. Reserve about 2 tablespoons of sprinkles for topping later.
  8. Transfer the dip to your serving bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  9. Just before serving, top the dip with the reserved sprinkles for that festive look. Serve with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzels, apple slices, or even just a spoon.

Notes

Make sure butter and cream cheese are at room temperature. Heat-treat the flour to ensure safety. Chill the dip for at least 30 minutes for best texture. Can be made up to 3 days ahead.
