  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold vodka (recommend Tito’s or similar smooth, neutral vodka)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) grenadine syrup
  • Optional: a few drops red food coloring
  • Optional: splash of lemon or lime juice
  • Optional: finely chopped fresh strawberries or raspberries
  • Optional: jalapeño-infused vodka or pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Bring 1 cup (240 ml) of water to a rolling boil.
  2. Pour boiling water over the gelatin mix in a heatproof bowl and stir vigorously for about 2 minutes until fully dissolved and clear.
  3. Stir in 2 tablespoons (30 ml) grenadine syrup thoroughly.
  4. Slowly pour in 1 cup (240 ml) cold vodka and stir gently to blend without bubbles.
  5. Add a few drops of red food coloring if desired and mix gently.
  6. Pour the mixture into shot glasses or cups, filling about ¾ full.
  7. Place the filled cups on a tray in the refrigerator and chill for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight until firm and jiggly.
  8. Serve chilled, optionally garnished with a maraschino cherry or a small wedge of lime.

Notes

Use cold vodka straight from the fridge to ensure gelatin sets properly. Stir gelatin vigorously in boiling water to avoid lumps. Chill shots for at least 4 hours or overnight for best texture.
