A quick and easy patriotic appetizer featuring cherry tomatoes, fresh blueberries, creamy burrata, and basil on skewers, drizzled with balsamic glaze. Perfect for summer parties and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pint cherry tomatoes (about 300 grams), ripe and firm
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries (about 150 grams), washed and dried
  • 8 ounces burrata cheese (about 225 grams), fresh
  • 20 small fresh basil leaves
  • 23 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • Extra virgin olive oil (optional, for drizzling)
  • Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Rinse the cherry tomatoes and blueberries thoroughly under cold water. Pat dry with a clean towel to avoid sogginess on the skewers.
  2. Gently slice the burrata into bite-sized pieces—about 1-inch cubes or slightly larger. Handle carefully since burrata is delicate and creamy inside.
  3. On each skewer, thread one cherry tomato, followed by a fresh basil leaf, then a piece of burrata, and finish with a blueberry. Repeat until you run out of ingredients. Leave about an inch of skewer at one end for easy handling.
  4. Arrange the skewers on your serving platter. Lightly sprinkle flaky sea salt and freshly cracked pepper over them.
  5. Drizzle balsamic glaze over the top in thin lines—don’t drench them or the burrata will get too soggy.
  6. Optionally, add a few small drizzles of good-quality extra virgin olive oil.
  7. Serve immediately or chill for 15-20 minutes. Burrata is best enjoyed fresh and creamy, so avoid long refrigeration.

Notes

Use fresh, ripe ingredients for best flavor. Pat berries and tomatoes dry to prevent sogginess. Handle burrata gently to avoid breaking. Assemble close to serving time to keep burrata fresh. Balsamic glaze adds sweet tang but use sparingly. For dairy-free, substitute burrata with marinated tofu or avocado.
