A stunning and healthy Halloween treat featuring a spider web design made entirely of fresh fruit. This easy, no-bake platter is perfect for parties and school events, offering a festive option without the sugar crash.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large seedless watermelon, sliced into a 1-inch thick round
  • 2 cups fresh green grapes
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh blackberries
  • 2 medium green apples (preferably Granny Smith), cut into thin wedges
  • 4–6 pretzel sticks
  • Optional: 2 small white chocolate drops or mini marshmallows with black icing for eyes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Watermelon Base: Wash the watermelon. Using a sharp knife, cut a 1-inch thick round slice from the center. Place it on a serving platter and pat the top dry with a paper towel. Trim the bottom if needed so it sits flat.
  2. Cut the Center Circle: Using a small round cookie cutter or a paring knife, cut a 2-inch circle out of the very center of the watermelon slice. Gently remove this small circle of watermelon.
  3. Create the Web Spokes: Cut the apples into thin wedges (about 8-12 wedges per apple), about 1/4 inch thick. Arrange these apple wedges like spokes on a wheel, radiating out from the center hole to the edge of the watermelon. Space them evenly (8-10 spokes total).
  4. Build the Outer Ring: Place the green grapes in a circle around the outer edge of the watermelon, following the curve. Place them snugly against each other to form the outer rim of the web.
  5. Create the Web Lines: Using the blueberries, create concentric circles inside the web, starting from the outer edge and working inward. Place the blueberries between the apple spokes to create 3-4 rings of blueberries.
  6. Assemble the Spider: Place the blackberries in the center hole, piling them up to form a rounded body.
  7. Add the Legs: Gently push 4 pretzel sticks into the blackberry pile on each side, angling them outwards like spider legs.
  8. Final Touches: If using edible eyes, place them on the front of the blackberry pile. Use a tiny bit of cream cheese or peanut butter as ‘glue’ to hold them in place. Serve immediately or refrigerate.

Notes

Pat fruit dry to prevent sliding. Use a serrated knife for clean watermelon slices. Work from the outside in when placing fruit. Keep refrigerated until serving. Toss apple slices in lemon juice to prevent browning.
