A healthy, naturally sweetened Halloween punch made with apple, pomegranate, and orange juice, featuring a spooky frozen hand and floating ‘eyeballs’. It’s quick, easy, and perfect for parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups 100% apple juice
  • 2 cups pomegranate juice
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 2 cups sparkling water or club soda
  • 12 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)
  • 1 star anise (optional)
  • 1 clean food-safe glove
  • Apple juice or water (for the ice hand)
  • Frozen grapes (green or red)
  • Pomegranate arils
  • Orange slices

Instructions

  1. Make the ‘Witch’s Hand’ Ice Block: Wash and rinse a clean, food-safe glove inside and out. Fill it with 100% apple juice (or water). Tie the wrist end tightly with a twist tie or string. Lay it flat on a freezer-safe bowl or plate, positioning the fingers slightly apart. Freeze for at least 8 hours or until completely solid. When ready to serve, run the glove under warm water for a few seconds to loosen it, then carefully peel the glove off.
  2. Prep Your Garnishes: Wash and dry your grapes. Slice your oranges into thin rounds. If desired, cut a small slit in each grape to make them look more like eyeballs. Set aside.
  3. Combine the Juices (Base): In a large punch bowl or pitcher, combine the 4 cups of apple juice, 2 cups of pomegranate juice, and 1 cup of fresh orange juice. Stir well.
  4. Add the ‘Secret’ Ingredients: Grate the 1-inch piece of fresh ginger. For a smoother drink, press it through a fine-mesh strainer to get just the juice. Add the ginger juice and 1-2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Start with 1 tablespoon, taste, and add more if desired. Stir again.
  5. Chill It All Down: Place the punch bowl in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours before serving.
  6. Add the Fizz Right Before Serving: Just before serving, gently pour in the 2 cups of sparkling water or club soda. Stir very gently.
  7. Assemble the Spooky Presentation: Carefully place the frozen ‘witch’s hand’ into the punch, fingers up. Drop in the frozen grapes and pomegranate arils. Float the orange slices on top.
  8. Serve and Scare! Give the punch one last gentle stir and let guests serve themselves with a ladle.

Notes

The frozen hand is a choking hazard for very small children, so supervise them around the punch bowl. The punch base can be made up to 2 days in advance. Add sparkling water and frozen hand just before serving. Leftover punch (without sparkling water) can be frozen into popsicles.
