A quick and easy patriotic charcuterie board featuring fresh berries, assorted cheeses, crackers, and nuts, perfect for summer parties and festive gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries, hulled and sliced (about 1 cup)
  • Blueberries (1 cup)
  • Raspberries (1 cup)
  • Brie cheese, soft and creamy (8 oz / 225 g)
  • Aged cheddar, sharp and crumbly (6 oz / 170 g)
  • Goat cheese, tangy and spreadable (4 oz / 115 g)
  • Thinly sliced prosciutto or salami (optional, 3-4 oz / 85-115 g)
  • Assorted crackers (about 2 cups total)
  • Baguette slices, toasted (1 small loaf)
  • Marcona almonds or roasted pecans (½ cup)
  • Honey or fig jam (2 tbsp)
  • Fresh mint leaves (a handful)

Instructions

  1. Gently rinse the strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries under cold water. Pat dry with paper towels. Hull and slice the strawberries into halves or quarters depending on size. Set aside in separate bowls to keep colors and flavors distinct.
  2. Using a sharp paring knife, cut the Brie into small wedges. Slice the aged cheddar into thin squares or triangles for easy grabbing. Crumble the goat cheese into a small bowl or shape into little logs for spreading. Keep cheeses cool until ready to arrange.
  3. Arrange assorted crackers and toasted baguette slices in small piles on the board edges or in open spaces. Toast baguette slices lightly to bring out crunch and prevent sogginess under toppings.
  4. Start by placing the cheeses spaced evenly around the board. Next, group berries in clusters around the cheeses to highlight the red, white, and blue theme. Add the sliced prosciutto or salami if using, folding the slices loosely for volume. Scatter nuts in small piles or inside ramekins for easy access.
  5. Place small bowls of honey and fig jam on the board. Sprinkle fresh mint leaves here and there for brightness and aroma. Tuck in cheese knives and spreaders for guests to help themselves.

Notes

Take cheeses out of the fridge about 30 minutes before serving to unlock full flavor. Assemble the board as close to serving time as possible to avoid soggy crackers or wilted mint. Group berries in clusters for visual impact. Use small bowls for honey and nuts to prevent spills. Keep the board dry and clean, especially if using wood—regular oiling with food-safe mineral oil helps maintain it.
