  • Red Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) strawberry or cherry flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka
  • White Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) full-fat coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) cold vodka
  • 2 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • Blue Layer: 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue raspberry flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold vodka

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: Dissolve red gelatin powder in 1 cup boiling water, stir until dissolved (about 2 minutes). Add 1/2 cup cold vodka and mix. Pour into shot cups filling about one-third full. Chill in refrigerator for 45-60 minutes until firm but not hard.
  2. Prepare the White Layer: Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1 cup cold water and let bloom for 5 minutes. Heat 1 cup boiling water and pour over gelatin, stirring until dissolved. Stir in coconut milk, sugar if using, and 1/4 cup cold vodka. Cool to room temperature. Gently pour over set red layer. Chill for 45-60 minutes until firm.
  3. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve blue raspberry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stir in 1/2 cup cold vodka once dissolved, and cool slightly. Pour carefully over white layer. Chill for at least 2 hours or overnight until fully set.
  4. Serving: Remove from fridge, gently loosen edges with a butter knife if needed, and serve chilled.

Notes

Use boiling water to dissolve gelatin completely to avoid lumps. Let each layer set fully before adding the next to prevent colors from bleeding. Cool gelatin mixtures before adding vodka to preserve alcohol content and prevent melting layers. Pour next layer slowly over the back of a spoon to minimize splashing. Keep shot cups on a flat surface in the fridge for even setting. For vegan or alcohol-free versions, substitute vodka with chilled coconut water or sparkling water and gelatin with agar-agar.
