A visually stunning and easy-to-make layered cocktail perfect for patriotic celebrations like the Fourth of July, combining simple ingredients to create bold red, white, and blue layers with balanced flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 oz grenadine syrup (Rose’s recommended)
  • 1 oz vodka (smooth brand like Tito’s recommended)
  • 2 oz coconut cream or half-and-half (coconut cream for dairy-free option)
  • 1 oz white rum (optional)
  • 1 oz blue curaçao (bright and not too syrupy, Bols recommended)
  • 1 oz club soda or lemon-lime soda
  • Ice cubes (clear ice preferred)

Instructions

  1. Fill your glass about halfway with ice cubes to chill and help separate layers.
  2. Mix 1 oz grenadine with 1 oz vodka in a small bowl and slowly pour over the ice to form the bottom red layer.
  3. Mix 2 oz coconut cream or half-and-half with 1 oz white rum (if using). Using a bar spoon, gently pour this white mixture over the back of the spoon just above the red layer to create the middle layer.
  4. Combine 1 oz blue curaçao with 1 oz club soda or lemon-lime soda. Slowly layer this blue mixture over the white layer using the back of a spoon.
  5. Optionally garnish with a straw or cocktail pick with a small flag. Let the cocktail rest for 30 seconds to a minute to set the layers.

Notes

Use chilled ingredients and pour slowly over the back of a spoon to maintain distinct layers. Clear ice enhances the visual effect. Avoid stirring to keep layers separate. Practice pouring rhythm for best results. For non-alcoholic version, substitute spirits with coconut milk and blue raspberry soda or sports drink.
