These sliders combine smoky barbecue sauce, crispy bacon, melty cheddar cheese, and crunchy fried onions for a perfect bite-sized indulgence. Ideal for quick weeknight meals or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce (120 ml), smoky variety
  • 6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and chopped
  • 6 slices cheddar cheese
  • 6 small slider buns (potato buns recommended)
  • 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup flour (60 g) for coating onions
  • About 1 cup vegetable oil (240 ml) for frying onions
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: pickles, lettuce, or tomato slices

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crispy onions: Peel and thinly slice the onion into rings or half rings. Toss slices in flour until evenly coated.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat to about 350°F (175°C). Fry coated onions in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Season lightly with salt while hot.
  3. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp, about 5-7 minutes. Drain on paper towels and chop into bite-sized pieces.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with about 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon pepper. Mix gently and divide into 6 equal portions. Shape into patties slightly larger than slider buns.
  5. Heat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties 3-4 minutes per side for medium doneness. In the last minute, brush patties with BBQ sauce and top each with a slice of cheddar cheese. Cover to melt cheese.
  6. Lightly toast slider buns on grill or skillet for 1-2 minutes until golden and slightly crisp.
  7. Assemble sliders: Spread additional BBQ sauce on buns if desired. Place cheeseburger patty on bottom bun, sprinkle chopped bacon over cheese, top with crispy onions, add optional pickles or lettuce, then crown with top bun.
  8. Serve immediately with preferred sides.

Notes

Do not overwork the ground beef to keep patties tender. Maintain oil temperature around 350°F for crispy onions. Make a slight indentation in patties to prevent puffing. Prepare patties and onions ahead but assemble just before serving to keep buns from getting soggy.
