This spooky Halloween punch with creepy dry ice fog is the star of any Halloween party. It’s easy, dramatic, and tastes amazing—a sweet, tart, and refreshing blend of cranberry, pineapple, orange, and lime juices with a fizzy ginger ale finish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (960 ml) cranberry juice cocktail
  • 4 cups (960 ml) pineapple juice (unsweetened)
  • 2 cups (480 ml) orange juice
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) lime juice (freshly squeezed from about 4–5 limes)
  • 1/2 cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • 4 cups (960 ml) ginger ale or lemon-lime soda (chilled)
  • 1–2 pounds (450–900 g) dry ice
  • Ice ring or large ice cubes (optional)
  • Fresh cranberries and orange slices (optional, for garnish)
  • Gummy worms or plastic spider rings (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Make the Punch Base: In a large pitcher, combine the cranberry juice, pineapple juice, orange juice, and lime juice. Add the sugar and stir until completely dissolved. Taste and adjust sweetness. Chill in the fridge for at least 1 hour (can be done the night before).
  2. Prepare Your Garnish (Optional): If making an ice ring, fill a small ring mold or bundt pan with water and add fresh cranberries and orange slices. Freeze overnight.
  3. Set Up Your Punch Bowl: Place a large punch bowl in a central location on a stable surface. Place a smaller metal or heatproof bowl inside the larger bowl, towards the center.
  4. Assemble the Punch: Pour the chilled punch base into the large bowl, around the smaller metal bowl. Slowly pour in the chilled ginger ale and stir gently. If using an ice ring, carefully place it in the punch now.
  5. Add the Dry Ice: Using tongs or thick gloves, carefully place a few small pieces of dry ice (about the size of a golf ball each) into the smaller metal bowl. Do not put dry ice directly into the punch. The fog will immediately start to pour out.
  6. Maintain the Fog: The dry ice will sublimate over about 10-15 minutes. Add more small pieces of dry ice to the metal bowl as needed to keep the fog going. A 1-pound block lasts about an hour.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Ladle the punch into cups, being careful to avoid the metal bowl with the dry ice. The punch is safe to drink.

Notes

Always handle dry ice with tongs or thick gloves—never with bare skin. Use a separate metal bowl inside the punch bowl to contain the dry ice; do not put it directly into the punch. Chill all ingredients for the best fog effect. Buy more dry ice than you think you need (1-2 pounds for a party). For an adult version, replace ginger ale with champagne or prosecco, or add vodka or white rum.
