A quick and impressive Halloween fruit tray featuring a spider web design made with white frosting. Perfect for last-minute parties, this healthy appetizer is ready in 15 minutes and uses simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Green grapes, washed and separated into small clusters
  • Red or black grapes, washed and separated
  • Strawberries, hulled and halved if large
  • Blueberries, washed
  • Apple slices, tossed in lemon juice to prevent browning (Honeycrisp or Fuji recommended)
  • Mandarin orange segments, drained if canned
  • 1 can (16 oz) white frosting (Pillsbury or Duncan Hines preferred)
  • Plastic spider rings or decorative spiders (optional)
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full-fat or dairy-free coconut yogurt)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Wash and thoroughly dry all fruit. Pat each piece dry with paper towels to remove any moisture.
  2. Prep fruit as needed: hull strawberries and halve if large, slice apples and toss with lemon juice, separate grapes into small clusters, drain orange segments if using canned.
  3. Prepare yogurt dip (optional): In a small bowl, mix Greek yogurt, honey, and vanilla extract until smooth. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  4. Arrange fruit on a large round platter in a solid, even layer. Create concentric circles of different fruits for visual appeal.
  5. Spoon white frosting into a zip-top bag, seal, and snip off a tiny corner (about 1/8 inch). Test flow on a plate before piping.
  6. Pipe straight lines of frosting from the center to the outer edge, like spokes on a wheel, spacing them evenly (6-8 lines).
  7. Pipe concentric circles of frosting around the center, about 1 inch apart, connecting the spokes.
  8. Using a toothpick or knife tip, gently drag through the frosting from the center outward, passing through each circle. Wipe clean between each drag to create web curves.
  9. Place plastic spider rings on the web, pressing gently into the fruit.
  10. Serve immediately or cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 4 hours.

Notes

Moisture is the enemy—dry fruit thoroughly. Use room temperature frosting for best piping. Practice the dragging technique on a plate first. Work quickly as frosting sets. Imperfections in the web look more authentic. White frosting on colorful fruit provides the best contrast.
